The championship season no longer sends you back to a circuit you already raced at the exact same distance — the last two races of the season now visit genuinely different sand.
- Race 4 of the season (Ludi Ceriales) now runs the wide Circus Maximus instead of repeating Circus Flaminius from race 2.
- The season finale (Ludi Magni) now closes at Circus Maxentius — the grandest, fastest circuit in the empire — instead of just re-running the very first race's venue.
- Circus Flaminius, the tight technical circuit, now appears exactly once, at the distance it was actually tuned for.
- No changes to controls, handling, or any other race content.

Housekeeping pass on Circvs Maximvs — code cleanup and the game’s first test suite. Nothing about the racing has changed.
- Internal cleanup: the main file was split up, dead audio code removed, and unused sound prefetching dropped.
- The whip timing economy is now locked down by an automated test suite, so a future change cannot silently alter how rewarding rhythm whipping is.
- We re-ran the full balance check across all three circuits and confirmed lap times are identical to the centisecond. Nothing about how the game plays has changed.

Whipping in time is finally the fastest way round the circus — and there are now three circuses to do it on.
- Fixed the whip. Cracking on the beat used to drain your team faster than it earned you pace, so a driver with perfect timing finished last while a driver who never touched the whip finished mid-pack. Now a clean cadence is the quickest lap in the game: in the same test race, perfect timing went from dead last to a win, and knocked twenty seconds off a three-lap race.
- Your horses can no longer be trapped on empty. A spent team’s weak flails are free, the exhaustion penalty is gentler, and running low is a setback you drive out of rather than a hole you fall into.
- The whip sounds like a whip. A new leather crack with real snap and body, a softer one for a good-but-not-perfect hit so you can hear how well you are keeping time, a duller thud when you mistime it, and rivals’ whips now sound like they are across the sand rather than in your ear. The crowd ducks under your crack so it always cuts through.
- Three circuses to race, not one. The vast Circus Maximus, the cramped old Circus Flaminius with a hairpin that punishes a surge you are still carrying, and the huge banked Circus of Maxentius where the turns hold you and the straights are worth arriving at fast. Each has its own sand, spina and skyline.
- The Championship Season now tours them — a different strip of sand as you climb the ludi — and you can pick your circus for a single race from the menu.
- The perfect-timing window on the cadence meter is a touch more forgiving, and the meter’s green zone now shows exactly where it is.
- If you had a championship season in progress from before this update, it carries over — your points, your rivals and your place in the schedule are all still there, and the games you have left now tour the new circuses.

Circvs Maximvs is now playable on a phone — steer with your thumb, crack the whip on the beat.
- Full touch controls: hold the left edge of the screen to steer, tap WHIP to crack the whip on the beat and LASH to strike the rival beside you. Your team gallops on its own, so both thumbs stay free for the things that matter.
- Hold your phone sideways and the game tells you so, then gets out of the way. The race pauses while you turn it, so nobody loses a lap to a rotation.
- A pause button on the sand, and mute now lives on the pause screen — so you can silence the crowd without a keyboard.
- The menu, the faction cards and the standings all fit a phone screen properly now, instead of pushing the race button off the bottom.
- The opening cinematic can be skipped with a tap, and every on-screen prompt now speaks the language of whatever you are playing with — keyboard, controller or fingers.
- Nothing about racing on a desktop has changed.

Circvs Maximvs opens on a real cinematic now, ends on one, and finally teaches you the whip in your first lap.
- A new opening cinematic sweeps the circus, rides down the sand with the field and pulls up for the title, narrated by an old charioteer who tells you exactly what your whip is for. It plays when you first contend for the laurel, and you can watch it again any time from the menu.
- Winning the season is now an event: a lap of honour shot from the sand with the herald's proclamation over it, a champion's banner, and then your final standings.
- The whip cadence meter is bigger and brighter and no longer disappears into the sand, and for the first stretch of every race it grows larger still while a pace drum taps the beat for you.
- Lashing at empty air now costs you: wasted vigour, your speed surge gone and your rhythm combo broken. Swing when a rival is actually beside you.
- The champion's title no longer runs off the edge of the screen.

Cracking the whip is now a skill — time each lash to the beat and turn your whip on rivals as a weapon.
- Whipping is now a rhythm minigame: a marker sweeps a cadence bar, and tapping the whip on the beat gives a real speed surge (nail a run of perfect cracks to build a combo). Mistime it and the horses break stride.
- Hold-to-go is gone — keeping pace now means keeping the rhythm and managing a team that tires if you flog it carelessly.
- New whip attack: pull alongside a rival and lash them — they stumble and lose ground in a big, carefully animated stagger. Aggressive rivals will lash you right back.
- Whip cracks and hits now punch: bright crack-flashes, dust, speed lines, a camera kick, and fresh whip-crack, impact and crowd-reaction sounds.
- Controls updated: whip on the beat with Space / RB / ⚡, lash a rival with E / X / 💥 — with on-screen prompts that match your device.

Every race in the Championship Season now has its own time of day and weather, rivals have real personalities, and the coronation is a full cinematic with narration.
- The five season races now run from golden morning through hazy afternoon and amber sunset to a torchlit twilight finale — no two look alike, and quick races roll a random time of day.
- Your rivals are now characters: each carries a reputation like the Butcher or the Fox that shows in the standings and changes how ruthlessly or cunningly they drive.
- Before each race the crowd calls out a rival to watch, then tracks whoever you are duelling for the championship.
- The field gets sharper as the season's stakes rise, so the final games are the toughest.
- Winning the season is now a true coronation — a golden triumphal arena, a distinct fanfare, and a herald proclaiming your victory.

Full controller support - play the whole game, menus and all, on a gamepad.
- Added complete gamepad support: steer with the left stick or d-pad, gallop, rein in, and crack the whip on the face and trigger buttons, with Start to pause and Select to mute
- The controller now drives every screen too - main menu, faction and race setup, pause, results, season standings and the champion finale - with a highlight showing your current selection
- On-screen button hints switch automatically between keyboard and controller depending on what you last touched, so the prompts always match your hands
- Plugging in or unplugging a controller shows a message, and losing it mid-race pauses the game instantly so a dropped connection never costs you the ludus
