Ion Reach finally has a landmark of its own — a derelict mine-laying rig, and the pulse mines hanging off it.
- New hazard: the pulse mine. It sits in the open middle of the cave as a small armoured core you can skim past, then blooms into a wide lethal disc on its own beat and collapses back. It is a timing read, not a dodge — and there is always a channel over it and a channel under it.
- New landmark on the first biome: THE MINEWORKS. Three live nodes hang on tethers from a dead mine-laying rig under the ceiling, all on one machine cycle, so the bloom rolls down the row like a wave you fly beside. It arrives about fourteen seconds into a fresh run.
- Energy cells now hang in both channels through the rig, so picking a side and holding it pays better than drifting through the middle.
- Every bloom announces itself: the node collar glows amber and a ring marks the exact circle that is about to become lethal, a full beat before it does.
- Pulse mines turn up across Crystal Vents, Mag-Storm and Ash Mantle too, in the campaign and in every endless lap. The Core is deliberately left alone — it is fast enough already.
- Two new sounds: the spool-up whine and the discharge whump.

Hyperdrift gains a fifth biome, the Ash Mantle, between Mag-Storm and the Core.
- A new stage, the Ash Mantle: an acid-green, ash-choked cave that sits between Mag-Storm and the Core, faster and tighter than anything before it.
- Nothing new to learn, everything to re-read quicker: a collapsing roof, its own blast-door vault and a snaking run-out into the gate.
- Endless mode now cycles five biomes, with eight fresh, verified Ash Mantle layouts.
- Time attack is now a five-stage race, so best times start over; your old record is kept.
- The intro narration now counts five biomes.

The rift's last chamber opens: two new hazards to read and REACTOR HEART, the wide-open reactor hall that stands between you and the escape.
- ARC BEAMS: two emitter heads face each other from opposite walls and strike a lethal filament straight across the middle of the tunnel. It is the opposite of an iris gate — the centre is what goes deadly, and you commit to the channel over it or the channel under it. Both heads spool amber and a dashed ghost line shows exactly where the beam will land before it lands there.
- PISTONS: wall rams that punch across the cave and pull back flush again. They come in banks on one machine cycle, each ram a half beat behind the last, so a bank hammers past you like a press line. There is always a safe window — you just have to fly on the beat to use it.
- REACTOR HEART: the finale of The Core. The tunnel blows out to more than double width into a furnace hall, three arc beams sweep the approach in a zigzag, and a huge pulsing reactor sits in the middle of the room as the last thing you have to fly around. A garland of energy cells hangs close to it, so the tight line pays.
- Three new sounds — the ram's clang, the arc's crack, and the reactor's slow heartbeat — and a painted reactor hall lighting the chamber from behind.
- Every stage now has its own authored set-piece, and all four biomes plus every endless layout carry the new hazards. The campaign still passes all three fairness proofs and wins from twelve different clock alignments.

A retro-art pass that stops the pixels crawling — the tunnel now has real depth, and the sky behind it is a proper painted parallax.
- The brick walls used to shimmer and crawl as you moved. They are now locked to the pixel grid and hold still.
- The tunnel lip has darkening bands and a shadow course behind it, so the track reads as something you are inside rather than a flat wall.
- Brickwork varies — plain, darker and cracked tiles mixed by position instead of one repeating stamp.
- The nebula backdrop is baked into a nine-tone posterized near-and-far parallax that slides at whole-pixel steps.
- Your thruster flare runs a proper 6-frame animation instead of flickering randomly.
- Hull shape, collision size and the terrain silhouette are untouched — it looks different, it drives identically.

The roof of the rift starts coming down — three new hazards and THE COLLAPSE, a corridor that crushes shut behind you.
- Falling shards: cracked slabs of ceiling now break loose when you cross a fault line and drop into your path a whole run at a time, each one hanging lower than the last.
- Drift debris: huge chunks grind along the cave wall straight at you, far faster than the rift scrolls — you get a rumble, then a warning chevron, then about half a second.
- Collapsing ceilings: on Mag-Storm the roof itself sinks as you pass beneath it, settling in heavy lurches you can feel through the screen.
- THE COLLAPSE: a long descending corridor near the end of Mag-Storm that closes down across its whole length and only releases at the exit. Get low early — there is no reacting to this one — and the roof finishes falling behind you as you clear it.
- Three new sounds for stone cracking, rock tearing past and a ceiling under strain.
- Every new hazard passes the same fairness proofs as the rest of the game: there is always a way through, at every moment of every cycle.
11 August 2026ImprovementClaude Opus 5
Two new cave hazards and a landmark set-piece — the vault doors of Crystal Vents now slam shut on a beat.
- New IRIS GATES: armoured jaws slide out of the ceiling and floor on a rhythm, squeezing the cave down to a narrow slit. They always warn you first — the housings pulse amber and two dashed lines show exactly where the jaws are about to land. The gap is often not in the middle of the tunnel, so you have to move to it rather than hold the centre.
- New VENT JETS: wall nozzles blast gas across the tunnel. These do not kill you, they shove you — you have to lean on the stick and fly through the push.
- THE VAULT DOORS: three oversized irises in a row near the end of Crystal Vents, slamming one after another like a wave, over a colder backdrop. Crystal Vents had no landmark of its own before; now it has the biggest one in the game, and all three doors share the same safe line, so pick it early and hold it.
- The hazards are spread across all four biomes — Ion Reach gets two lone gates to teach you the read, Crystal Vents is thick with both, and The Core gets a sparing dose. Endless runs get them too.
- New sounds for both: a heavy servo clunk as a gate slams, a pressurised hiss as a vent fires.
- Every stage is still mathematically proven flyable, including with every gate welded shut and every plume at full stretch.

Hyperdrift gets a hangar — eight new skiffs to earn, each one flying differently.
- New HANGAR screen: nine ships, from the standard Drift-7 to eight you unlock by playing. Locked bays show exactly what you have to do and how far along you are.
- Every skiff flies differently, not just better. The Vector-9 turns twice as sharp, the Needle is a pixel thinner, the Revenant survives its first crash of every stage, and the Kestrel has a drift brake that drags the whole rift down to two-thirds speed.
- Skiffs are side-grades, not upgrades: the forgiving ones score less and the Lance — no shields, one life fewer — scores 60% more. Pick your poison.
- Unlocks are earned from everything you already do: clearing stages, collecting cells, chasing endless distance, escaping the rift, even crashing (we insist).
- Swap ships straight from the flight setup screen, and your choice sticks between sessions.

Hyperdrift is now playable on a phone, with a proper analog thumb-stick for steering instead of buttons too small to hit.
- You can play the whole game on a phone now. Hold it sideways, drag your thumb anywhere on the screen and a steering stick appears under it — push further to climb or dive harder, exactly like a gamepad stick, and lean sideways to trade lookahead for reaction time.
- Every menu is properly tappable. New Flight, Continue, Options, Flight Setup, pause and Game Over all have big thumb-sized buttons, so you can start a run, retry after a crash and change settings without ever touching a keyboard.
- Pause is now one tap away while flying, and the pause screen carries a Mute button — so you can kill the sound mid-run instead of quitting to the menu to do it.
- Turn the phone upright and the game pauses and asks you to turn it back, rather than letting your skiff fly into a wall while you rotate. The rift runs left to right and needs the width.
- On-screen prompts now speak the right language for whatever you are holding — keyboard keys, gamepad buttons, or tap instructions on a phone.
- Nothing changed for keyboard or gamepad players: same controls, same feel, same speed.

Added quiet, privacy-safe gameplay analytics (run starts, progress milestones, deaths, and wins) so the studio can see how players actually experience the game.
- The game now quietly reports its own progress milestones (runs started, biomes cleared, crashes, and full escapes) so the studio can see how far players get and tune difficulty accordingly.

Fixed a bug in the shared cutscene system where holding a button as a cinematic began could skip it instantly — cutscenes now play as intended.
- Fixed a bug where a button still held down from the previous screen — the one you just pressed to confirm a menu — was mistaken for a fresh press the instant a cinematic opened, skipping the whole scene before a single frame played. Intros and endings now start properly.
- The problem depended on how long you held the button: a quick tap hid it, while a normal press destroyed the scene, which is why it went unnoticed for so long. Controller players were affected most.
- Skipping and fast-forwarding still work exactly as they always did — press to advance a line, or skip the scene entirely, once the button is released and pressed again.
- Added an automated test suite around the cutscene controls so this class of bug is caught before it ever reaches a player again.
- Gameplay, visuals, audio and balance are completely untouched — this is a repair to a shared piece of the studio cinematic system, applied to every game that uses it.

Hyperdrift's intro, escape, and crash are now real voiced cinematics instead of text screens.
- New cinematic intro: the camera sweeps in on the Drift-7 and dives into the neon rift, with a deep sci-fi narrator setting the run.
- Escaping the Core is now a genuine 'RIFT ESCAPED' cinematic — the Core cracks, light floods, and your skiff streaks into open space — before your score and records.
- Game over is now a styled, animated wipeout: an explosion flash, shock ring, and tumbling debris with a somber voiceover.
- Voiceover throughout, and muting sound in Options now silences the narration too.
- You can now click or tap the title screen to begin (keyboard and controller still work); the whole intro stays skippable.

Added a Time-Attack race mode and full touch controls, so you can chase clear-time records and play on a phone.
- New TIME ATTACK mode: race the four biomes against the clock, with your best clear time saved separately for each difficulty and a NEW RECORD callout when you beat it.
- A live race timer sits at the top of the screen in Time-Attack, and finishing shows your time versus your personal best.
- Touch controls: on a phone or tablet, drag up and down anywhere to steer, tap the on-screen PAUSE button, and tap the on-screen buttons to work every menu.
- On-screen prompts now switch to touch hints when you play by touch, the same way they already switch between keyboard and gamepad.
- Keyboard and controller play is completely unchanged, and every stage is still the same fairness-verified tunnel.
10 July 2026ImprovementClaude Opus 4.8
Pick your challenge and fly forever — Hyperdrift adds difficulty settings and a new Endless mode.
- New Flight Setup screen lets you choose your difficulty before every run: Easy (5 lives, generous shields), Normal (the classic run), or Hard (2 lives, no shields, no checkpoints).
- New Endless mode sends you through the four biomes on a loop that never stops, with a fresh cave layout every lap — see how far you can get.
- Your best Endless distance is saved and shown on the setup and game-over screens, so there's always a number to beat.
- Every Endless layout is pre-checked to be fully clearable, so you'll never hit an impossible stretch — just a faster, deeper run each time.
- All new menus work fully on keyboard and controller, with prompts that switch to whichever you last touched.
10 July 2026ImprovementClaude Opus 4.8
In-level speed bursts and atmospheric strobe zones, plus a fairness repair that makes the final stage beatable again.
- The first three biomes now vary their pace within a run: several stretches surge faster than the stage's normal speed, then ease back — no section is ever slower than before, so it's about acceleration, not slowdown.
- New atmospheric strobe zones flash here and there along the tunnel, with a new Strobe option (Off / Subtle / Full) so you can set the intensity or turn it off entirely.
- The Core has been made properly beatable again after a prior update had left its final stretch unfairly harsh.
- The star-streak now stretches harder during the fast bursts, so you really feel the speed change.
9 July 2026ImprovementClaude Fable 5
Hyperdrift flies like a proper shmup now — direct steering, a breathing tunnel, another big speed boost, and a pounding gabber soundtrack
- Flappy-bird controls are gone: the ship now steers directly up and down with the stick or arrow keys, with no gravity to fight
- Everything got faster again — roughly 20% more scroll speed in every biome, and the whole campaign was machine-verified to stay beatable at the new pace
- The cave now breathes, visibly narrowing and widening along every stage on top of the forks and squeezes
- Two thumping gabber hardcore tracks drive the run — a harder, faster one kicks in for the later biomes, and it speeds up as you go deeper
- Several unfair moments were hunted down and fixed, including an invisible knife-edge at fork entrances that could kill you instantly and channels that swerved faster than the ship could follow
- Retrying after game over now restarts the stage you died on instead of where the run began
8 July 2026ImprovementClaude Opus 4.8
Hyperdrift goes properly fast — every biome is quicker, tunnels now split into forking channels, and the left stick can levitate.
- Cranked the speed: every biome scrolls markedly faster, from Ion Reach up to a white-knuckle Core, with a snappier, more responsive ship so you can still thread the gaps.
- Stars now streak past with your velocity, so hyperspeed actually feels like hyperspeed.
- New tunnel splits: a solid island grows down the middle of the passage, forcing you to commit to the upper or lower channel before they rejoin — two forks in Ion Reach rising to five in the Core.
- One channel of each split hides a cluster of energy cells, so the greedy line and the safe line aren't always the same.
- Left-stick up (and d-pad up) now thrust to levitate, exactly like the A button.
- Tuned pillars so the tightest gaps always leave room to slip through at the new higher speeds.
- New CRT Filter option (Off / Light / Full) in Options — the scanline overlay is lighter by default so on-screen text is easy to read.
